Innovators around the country are finding ways to repurpose old tires into new materials such as Tire Derived Aggregate, also known as TDA. This material is often used in construction projects as a way to prevent water damage by providing an outlet for stormwater runoff. Are scrap tires a "waste material"? Maybe at one point they were, but not anymore! Scrap tires have found a second life, a way to be reused after their initial purpose.
