Into the Outdoors Releases New Episode on Boating Safety

Boating Safety Featured in New Into the Outdoors Episode ‘Learn Boating Safety: Save That Life!’ Released on May 25th

Madison, WISCONSIN – (May 31, 2024) – Into the Outdoors, an Emmy award-winning kids edutainment series that leads in outdoor and science education both nationally and internationally, featured boating safety in their newest episode “Learn Boating Safety: Save That Life!” released on May 25, 2024.

Created in a rare partnership of PBS Television, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Future Angler Foundation, and the Into the Outdoors Education Network, this episode strives to use the influence of a national television network to empower boating enthusiasts with critical thinking about safe boating behaviors.

In this episode, The Adventure Team with Into the Outdoors features important boating and watercraft safety lessons to learn along with the characters in a fun quiz show format, as the summer season quickly approaches.

Savvy Seagull welcomes Barnacle Bob, Party Boat Dude, and Wannabe Certified as guests on “Save That Life,” the game show where contestants win priceless lessons that could help save a life on the water. The entertaining characters come straight from Wannabe’s dreams and imagination as he prepares for his upcoming boating safety certification exam. At the same time, viewers learn valuable lessons in boating safety rules and regulations along with him.

As Savvy shares his wide range of boating safety knowledge, viewers will learn the US Coast Guard’s important rules and necessary tips for passing a boating safety certification exam to receive a boating license.

“Research shows that simply telling someone to wear their PFD won’t make them wear one,” said Dan Bertalan of Into the Outdoors. “To reshape behaviors, you need to empower someone with critical thinking by making them stakeholders in boating safety decisions. That’s one of several crucial psychological elements we use in producing effective boating safety educational TV shows and classroom videos that can influence behaviors.”

Into the Outdoors is delivering three new half-hour boating safety television shows to this season’s lineup, which can be viewed on select local broadcast stations during their weekend programming lineup.
