In this Into the Outdoors episode, we’re heading out on the water in a variety of different water crafts!

Water sports have gained popularity in recent years, and with more people out on the water, we want to make sure everyone is enjoying the water safely.

Join Adventure Team members Zach and Charlie as they try out stand up paddle boards (SUPs), kayaks, canoes and personal watercrafts (PWCs), while learning the important safety steps to take before getting in the water. Think you know all about these fun watercrafts?

Test your knowledge along with Zach and Charlie in this exciting and knowledge-packed episode!

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of launching your canoe, or other watercraft, and forget to follow the proper safety measures to keep yourself safe in the case of an accident.

However, taking these precautions could end up saving your life. Join Adventure Team members Zach and Charlie as they prepare for their water adventure by taking a variety of safety measures before launching their canoe.

Having a float plan and sharing it with someone, knowing your plan of action in the case of an emergency and being prepared for your adventure with the right gear/equipment can help you in the case of an accident, or even prevent one from happening.

Test yourself! Are these things you do before heading out on the water?

Before you hit the water, you should make sure the watercraft you are using is the right one for you and your adventure.

There are a lot of similarities and differences between larger watercraft, such as power boats, and smaller watercraft, such as SUPs, kayaks, canoes and PWCs.

For instance, a large boat is more stable in the water but it can’t turn as quickly as a personal watercraft (PWC) can. However, the maneuverability of a PWC can cause them to tip more easily than a boat. Knowing and being aware of these differences can better prepare you for a safe day on the water.

Join Adventure Team members Zach and Charlie as they learn about what makes large and small watercraft different, what things they have in common and how to choose the best craft for your water adventure!

In this Into the Outdoors episode, we’re jumping into the science and importance of PFDs, or personal floatation devices – you know, your life jacket! Wearing a PFD can save your life in the case of a boating accident, but don’t take our word for it;

listen to the impactful story of a boating accident survivor and how choosing the right PFD for your day on the water can be a life-changing decision. Join Adventure Team members Zach and Phoebe as they learn how PFDs work, how they are tested, why they are important and how to have fun on the water while wearing one!

You’ve likely worn one before, but do you know how a life jacket can save your life? Life jackets, or Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs), are the number one way to prevent yourself from drowning in the case of a boating accident, but why? Join Adventure Team members Zach and Phoebe as they dive deeper into the science of buoyancy as well as in-water testing to show you how PFDs work and how they can save your life.

How would you react in the case of a boating accident? You can never really know how you’ll react, so it’s important to make sure you are prepared well before one can even occur. Our Into the Outdoors Adventure Team members, Zach and Phoebe, reached out to Hunter Bland, a boating accident survivor, to learn more about how to be prepared for a worst case scenario. Join us as they learn more about the specific gear you should be utilizing every time you go out on the water!
